Description
Following success in the calculator market Commodore decided to branch into the brand new home computer market with the Commodore PET 2001, the computer featured the same type of keys as the calculators and had a built in monitor and cassette drive which the later computers did not feature although getting sound on the console had to be done by plugging in an external speaker. In the USA and Canada they started to be used in schools while in Europe they were more widely used in the business market. The computer was seen as one of the first computers for the masses and was updated with the PET 3000 and 4000 which had better keyboards and more RAM.
